Art Rework and QOL improvements!

Today's devlog is mostly centered around attempting to make my game more approchable. I have hired an artist to help me redo the game UI. This is update includes a complete art rework for all scenes as well updates to overall layout of the game. I did however make under the hood tweaks to the Guess Tile picking portion of the code to improve giving a fair number of both usable and un-usable words.  I have also decided to update the name of the game to Kana Mash! I think this more closely aligns with what I imagined players doing in the game.

 

Added new title screen with initial Logo designs:


 

Reworked Select Screen, added Hiscores counts for each level


 

Reworked Ending Scene as well as Word Familiarity display

Bugs/QOL Improvements:

  • Fixed bug where certain questions provided no viable guesses
  • Fixed bug where low numbers of interacted words wouldnt be shown on the review screen
  • Added the ability to quit using the escape key
  • Added hi-score to select scene screen
  • Fixed issue where certain Kana Tiles wouldn't correctly answer Question Kana
  • Fixed issue that could cause a question to not enough guess tiles
  • Fixed issue where low remaining unanswered kana would only spawn correct guesses
